Even as a child, Marc Nonnenmacher held a passion for design and art. He continues to pursue his passion while studying Communication Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Würzburg. There, he experimented with very complex information design. After graduating, he decided to enter the university once again, in pursuit of his master thesis, and thoroughly explore information design with interactive media.
Topics like the uncontrollable financial industry are told in an innovative and understandable way. Dynamic hybrids consisting of causal chains and timelines show developments from the past to the present, and eventually, present possible future scenarios. The interface is a real cord, with which the virtual cord of the timeline can be navigated through a 3D-Space.
The aim of this work is to illustrate the uncontrollable financial industry, our monetary system, the economic system or new forms of imperialism in an innovative and understandable way. Dynamic hybrids consisting of causal chains and timelines explain these topics. With this method, current events can be explained. They show developments from the past to the present, and at the end of every hybrid timeline, several possible scenarios are shown for the future. The interface is a virtual cord of the timeline, that can be navigated through a 3D-Space. The cord is up to 8 meters long, and is extended with several sensors to track user input. The user moves through the information, from the past to the present, and can choose between possible upcoming events and causal chains.
Adobe Products were used to create the whole design and graphic user interface. Photoshop was used to create interface and design elements. Illustrator was used to create the illustrations.
