Kyung-jin Kim is a senior student and majoring in visual design at the Department of Industrial Design of Sejong University in Seoul, Korea. He is interested in typography and editorial design, and he hopes to always design meaningfully.
The dictionary definition of Gonggoo(Tool) s a common name of an instrument and a tool, used for making and fixing a things. If the word is associated to an object that can was successfully fixed or changed for the better, then the Gonggoo becomes a positive medium. The work has extended the word's meaning, to associate with people who help heal others' wounds.
The objective of this project is visualizing 'making and fixing' things, including wounds. The main materials are found items such as corrugated cardboards and craft shopping bags. The production used up to 80% of recycled materials. Each tool box becomes unique and a one-of-a-kind set.
