Communication objective
The Rochester Public Market is the heart and soul of the city of Rochester, New York. The market is a place where vendors from different farms around the area gather to sell their produce, meat, and household supplies to the customers. It has a weak wayfinding signage system guiding customers to and from the market. Furthermore, the market space has not been properly planned in terms of designated waste disposal areas, vendor locations, entry and exit signs, and parking locations. This project uses a new signage system that aims to rectify the preexisting navigational and space planning issues in the market.
Tools used
After color correcting the initial photographs I took at the market to observe and document the environmental graphic design problem, I used Adobe® Illustrator® CS2 to generate initial, intermediate, and final ideas for the entire new signage system. I also used Illustrator® to demonstrate the fabrication and joinery for each sign. Then I laid out the graphic panels that communicate the visual campaign from concept to production with Adobe InDesign® CS2. I later used Adobe Acrobat® to create the final PDF file. |
